BPAY - Variable CRN Billers Information
What is a variable Customer Reference Number (CRN)?
A variable CRN is a CRN that changes each time you receive a new bill, unlike a fixed CRN which remains the same for each bill. Prior to the variable CRN changes all billers were being treated as though they were fixed CRN billers.
Why is my Biller not saved when I make a new payment in Internet Banking?
When you make a new payment to a variable CRN biller, you will receive a message stating that the biller has a variable CRN and will not be saved to your Biller list. The save biller button will be disabled.
What will happen to my saved billers in my Manage Biller list?
Due to the variable CRN changes any variable CRN billers you had previously saved in NetAccess, will not be transferred to your Manage Biller list in Internet Banking. They will be deleted.
There will be no change to any frequently used billers that are classed as a fixed CRN biller.
Why can’t I set up a recurring BPAY payment via Internet Banking to a variable CRN biller?
Due to the current BPAY rules, you are no longer permitted to create a recurring BPAY payment to a biller which uses a variable CRN. If you are setting up a recurring BPAY payment please ensure that the biller you are using is not a variable CRN biller. If you are using a variable CRN biller this will be noted in a message on the page, when you select the biller.
Is there a daily limit for BPAY transactions?
Yes. When you register for Internet Banking you will have an automatic pre-set limit or, if you choose to register for Two Factor Authentication you have the benefit of an increase to these limits. These will define the daily transaction amount limit for Internal & External Transfers and BPAY transactions via Internet Banking. For more information please phone our Contact Centre on 13 29 30.
Can a BPAY payment be cancelled?
If you have scheduled your payment to occur on a date in the future it can be modified or cancelled any time before the date scheduled from your BPAY/Future Payments page from within Internet Banking. A BPAY payment cannot be modified or cancelled if the payment is scheduled to occur on the current date (today).
Can I schedule a BPAY payment for the future?
Yes. Internet Banking will enable you to perform a range of future dated and recurring payments and transfers, including BPAY payments.
Future Dated payments can be scheduled One Time, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, half yearly, or yearly.
When does the money for a payment come out of my account?
QTMB will withdraw funds from your account on the date the payment is requested.
If the payment is scheduled for the current date (today) this will occur immediately. If you have scheduled the payment to occur on a date in the future, funds will not be withdrawn until that date. You must ensure that you have sufficient funds for the scheduled payment or it may be rejected.
